SCANS & TRANSLATION - INROCK #333 ! ♥

Now, this is the first time that I have my life, not being Tokio Hotel. (Bill)

Scans & Translation: THCN
It's an award for fans, right? It means that your fans are the best?
Bill & Tom:
Yes!
Bill: It's an award for fans! Our fans are from foreign countries (Outside America), still we won the award, it's cool!!
And, there's one more important thing. A few months ago, you guys had beaten of a lot of big artists and win the MTV O Music Award? It's great, can you talk about this?
Tom:
Yes. Now, we're about to compose our mind and stay in the studio, we were not interviewed often, we are surprised! Even in such period, fans vote for us.
Bill: We didn't expect to it!
Tom: We even didn't know that we were nominated, after knowing that, we just thought that "it's great, but this is O Award, we won't win it".
Bill: It's really unexpected. In the past, when we won Headliner (6: EMA in 2008), and many other awards, we didn't feel the sense of reality... These all are achieved by our fans, for us. We are really proud of our fans, they support us greatly. Now, we don't have tour, just have our production in the studio, but still we won the award, we are really happy! It's really cool!
It's great that you guys are safe!!
Bill & Tom:
Yeah..*laugh* There's such story.
You guys has shot another video?
Bill:
Yeah, shot in Cape Town that one. Don't watch the German version, I really don't like it!
Really?
Bill:
Yes, though it's part of our history, I don't think we had made a good video, so I'm not that like it. But it's our starting point.
You were so cute in that video! I have watched it for a few times.
Tom:
*laugh* You have watched the whole?
Bill: Yap, we had his video, then a few years later, we shot the English version in Cape Town. It's a love song!
Tom: We were on an helicopter in the English version, after the shoot of the video, the helicopter was broken down.
Bill: It seems that it can no longer be manned.
Tom: We didn't know this, and we got on it. The shot goes well, but it's broken down a few days later.
Bill: It's too old, that there's even no license saying that it can be manned.
*grin* By the way, your next single for radio is the great hit song "Monsoon". It's a new song here, in Japan. Can you tell us some stories about this song?
Bill:
Yes. This is one of our first recording song by Tokio Hotel. It's in our first album, our first single in Germany, and the start of everything, so it's an important song, full of our memories. It fulfill our dreams, fans love this song. And "Monsoon" is also the most viewed video... We have brought this song to many countries. We have lots of memories in this song. We have also made a really beautiful video! Of course, it's an old song now...
But, isn't it inconvenient to carry such big ring?
Bill:
No, I love accessories. I have lots of accessories, a crazy number of accessories. There are chains, rings and other accessories. I have lots of accessories in my closet, a few thousands of them.
'Cause we had asked from Tom that you bought lots of things there. *grin* (6: From InRock #326)
Bill:
Yap, that's my favourite place in Los Angeles.
From Melrose Avenue, right? (editor: Los Angeles' most fashionable street, with lots of secondhand clotheses store and characteristic fashion stores.)
Bill:
Yes, from Melrose Avenue! You know it.
I see. By the way, your ring is really marvelous! Can you introduce to us? (there are a few rings, they nearly hide Bill's finger. It seems that the rings have gimmicks)
Bill:
This one? I brought this from Los Angeles' secondhand clotheses store, it seems that it was originally an old watch.
You guys are all perfectionists. *grin*
Bill:
Yap, as we are perfectionists, we want to write music with high quality. In the recent music industry, there are many people treat quality as minor, we want some bands creating music of high quality.
Could you guys upload the first 20 seconds of one of the song on Internet?
Tom:
*grin* There are too many songs for free nowadays.
Okay...*grin*
Bill:
But if we are 100% satisfied with our work, we will share with our fans.
Tom: Yap, conversely, if we are not 100% satisfied with our work, we will absolutely not make it public.
Where do you guys get inspiration from for your songs recently?
Bill:
Tom and I get all the inspiration from our life. Now, this is the first time that I have my life, not being Tokio Hotel. We are always touring, and grew up in the eye of public, it might be the first time that we can live and keep our privacy. So we try to challenge everything that we couldn't do in the past, this way of life is new to us, not touring. So, now, we get our inspiration from whom we met and our life. And movie. We like watching movie.
Tom: Also, time is important. Having enough time inspires us a lot. We live with our own lifestyle, have few weeks doing nothing. I think is really great. Songs that we bring to our fans is certainly great.
Bill: The most important thing is that we don't have pressure. The date of release of our next album is not decided, to us, this is important. We are not a band that will release an album annually. We are kind of free. As we think that ideas come to our mind spontaneously, we may have to spend 2, 3 or 4 years for an album, so we don't know when will our new album be finished. We will spend as much time as we like on it, this is important.

If we are not 100% satisfied with our work, we will absolutely not make it public. (Tom)
You're right. So far, how many songs have you guys written?
Tom:
If you are talking about the number of songs, the number is enough for us to go to the studio. But we don't want this. We will keep on writing songs and write down our ideas, production keeps on...
Bill: We can't tell you exactly how many songs we have written. In our laptop, there are a lot of songs we wrote since 2000. We have taken some songs from there and made some modifications. It's difficult to say exactly how many songs we have written. Anyway, we have written many songs, a mountain of songs.
Tom: One day, inside this mountain, we will think that "Ok, we are ready!". At that time, there're songs that can be combined into an album.
Bill: There are some songs that I don't like after recording.
I see. So, you guys are working on your new album?
Bill & Tom:
Yes!
You guys are stars, there are many people admire your music and existence, right? Do you guys think that it's destiny.
Bill:
Yeah, it can only be destiny. We have talked about this in many interview, that we are saved by music, in many ways. We, not only immerse ourselves in our music, but also in many other music. When we are sad, we will go to party, we listen to different music according to the atmosphere. Also, we create our own music, we are inspired by a lot of stories, and write our songs, this is the way which can solve our problem best. Everything around us is our inspiration. For us, music is a therapy, it works in different way. We will be happy if we can play such role. Though we are amazed that fans value us, we are really happy that they need our band.
After the earthquake disaster, many Japanese start thinking about their lives and destinies. Do you have anything that you think that you must do in your life? What's in your mind when disaster comes?
Tom:
Yes, I think that when something like that happens, a great impact will be made on everyone, all over the world. It happens so quickly, just in an instant, you can actually feel the terror of Nature.
Bill: Life is really fragile... I'm really scared.
Tom: The earthquake has changed the life of people all over the world. We all reflect on our life. There're so many people being killed, people all feel heartbreaking, so people is affected, for no reason.
What will you guys do?
Bill:
If there's any chance, we will grasp it with joy. For this time's MTV, there're really a lot of artists gathered together to show their support. I think that's really great. The scene of many people holding together for the same purpose is nice.
Also, you guys will have a collaboration with Germany's football team player Kagawa (Borussia Dortmund's midfielder Shinji Kagawa), right?
Bill:
Yes, we met him a lot recently. Although he says "I'm not that familiar with football...", he's really a nice guy.
Your fans have also done something, right?
Bill:
Yes, in order to raise money for Japanese Red Cross Society, we have designed some buttons, and many fans bought these buttons. I'm really happy to see fans helping us.
It's graceful that you guys could go back safely.
Bill:
Yes, of course, but we really love this country, we like Tokyo the best, so we treat Tokyo's matter as our matter. As the earthquake is really shocking, we think that, we will do anything if they need us, we want to show our support to Japan! So we are really happy that we can raise money for Japanese Red Cross Society with MTV.
*laugh* Let's back to our subject. First, I would like to thank you guys for supporting victims in Tohoku and Fukushima. You guys have done a lot of work in helping them?
Bill:
Yes. When we heard of the earthquake, we were really shocked, since we just came back from Japan a few weeks before the earthquake.
Okay, but I just can't imagine that Bill has such side.
Bill:
*laugh* No, no, I am the same as everyone, I grow beard.
Tom: Even I am the twin brother, I am shocked! In the morning, when I saw this guy's face, I was just like "What's happening to this face!? This is not Bill!". I'm really openmouthed. *laugh*
Bill: *laugh* But the worst thing is that I'm bored by myself, so I always change my look.
Tom: Just go out with your natural beauty. *grin* Hey, do I look old?
Bill: You are just 21, so it's okay, isn't it?
Tom: Yes, it's okay. If I wear a beard, I look like 21, right? I'm no longer 16, 17 years old.
Don't say something like that, don't you care about your look and styling all the time?
Bill:
You're right, but I'm also human being, the same as everyone! *grin*
...well, what can I say... *grin*
Bill & Tom:
*laugh*
Tom: I'm as beautiful as usual, right *grin*? Well...I think that beard can hide my rough skin. Should I continue to expose my rough skin, as Bill does so, or should I grow a beard to cover it? I chose the later one.
Gustav: Even you do so, you are as beautiful as usual! *grin*
Tom: Right? *grins*
Bill: But, for Tom and I, it's not a big deal. I'm a bit lazy in the morning, I also grow beard, the same as everyone. If it is okay for me not to shave off my beard, of course, this way is always easier.
Tom: Gustav got chest hair! *laugh*
Bill: Yeah, chest hair! *laugh*

In the morning, when I saw Bill's face with beard, I was shocked, even I am the twin brother... (Tom)
*laugh* Right. But the look of you guys is part of the image of Tokio Hotel, to fans, it's a great deal.
Bill:
You're right. For us, it's completely normal, but for fans, it's big problem, it's strange.
By the way, Tom, what's happening to your beard? Fans are talking about it!
Tom:
You don't like it? *laugh*
Having mini live at Audi Forum Tokyo. From left to right: Georg Listing, Tom Kaulitz, Bill Kaulitz, Gustav Schäfer.

Tokio Hotel visit Japan for MTV's VIDEO AID JAPAN (hereafter referred to VMAJ). In our last issue, we published our close coverage and photos of Tokio Hotel, this time, we will publish their interview. We haven't met Kaulitz brothers for three months, they are still handsome, but Tom has wear a thin beard. Though they are twins, you can distinguish them from their image. Bill has shown up with beard in an award, it seems that fans are shocked. And, this time, apart from VMAJ, Tokio Hotel has also done mini live in Audi's Showroom. There're a lot of fans saying that they can't wait to enjoy a normal concert. "It doesn't matter how much money you can spend, only those, who have won the tickets, can attend this live. It's hard." said the fans. According to Germany's staff, Japan's promoter has contacted them for a few times, the band's also full of drive. It may not be a long way to fulfill fans' wish...?
Japan's summer is humid, right?
Bill:
Yap, it's really hard that you have to work under such weather. I don't care if we are in vacation, and relax for the whole day.
Tom: But it's better than cold!
Bill: Surely, it's better than winter.

INTERVIEW - ELLE GIRL - [24.06.11] ! ♥

For all GIRLS who are fans of TH, sorry to have kept you waiting. I will now post the interview of TH, which is done when thay came to Japan for the VMAJ show last month. Due to the limited 10-minute time, I could not ask all the questions collected from Blog and Twitter, but the 4 lovely boys tried their best to answer the questions.

On June 24th, although I was preparing the ELLEgirl Night, I decided to interview TH anyway. Here I would like to thank the staff for your concern.

Here are Gustav, Bill, Tom, Georg from the left. I thought they got jet lag, but actually they looked very fresh when they entered the interview room.

Part 1

The interviews you guys took before have made a stir all around the world. The interview was translated into, of course, English, and also French, Thai, Russian and other languages, and put on web. There are also comments written in English, French and German in my blog.
Bill:
(very glad) Yeah, that's so amazing, right? It's unbelievable.

This time I told fans I would interview TH, so in recent days I received a large number of questions from Uruguay, Russia, Italy, China and etc. Fans all over the earth want to ask you questions. They wrote something like this: if you would come to Japan, we hope you come to Kyusyu; or we hope you can come to Uruguay or Moscow. They all hope TH can come to their local place.
Bill:
I see. We'd love to. All the fans keep eyes on your blog, right?

Yeah, I think that network between TH fans is great.
Well, let's get started. Let's see how many questions you can answer.
Did you search for your favourite place or store in Tokyo? (From KANA)
Bill:
To be honest, we don't have opportunities to look around or even free time. Especially this time we just stay for 2 nights. [*actually, they stay for 4 days 3 nights] We spend all our time on interviews or shows (rehearsal and activities included), so we don't have any chance to ramble around. But in the first visit to Japan, we had 30 minutes of free time, so I checked some beautiful and fashionable people.

Where is it? Harajuku or Shibuya?
Bill:
Yeah, it's great. I had gone to some fashion stores. So, I would like to come to Japan and go around leisurely when I have a holiday next time.

Part 2

Here's a question form a girl, who wears Yukata in today's event: Do you like Kimono and Yukata? (From Sindy)
Bill:
Really? We like it. (Eyes shining) Last time we received Kimono as presents. Every morning we woke up in Kimono. [*actually, I think that what Bill received is Yukata, insteand of Kimono. Firstly, it is very difficult to wear Kimono, and it is not confortable to wear Kimono and sleep. Secondly, Kimono is kind of expensive. But the original text is written as Kimono, so here I translated as Kimono.]

Tom: Last time I took a picture with two girls in Kimono.
Bill: Yeah, yeah.

But if you wear Kimono in the show, it must be different style with your songs.
Bill:
Hahaha. That's right. Maybe we have to prepare some black Kimono with rivets.
Tom: (Laugh) Georg may wear Kimono tomorrow in VMAJ.

Georg looks like to say no with a cool smile.

Please tell us what kind of feeling you guys want to express in the performance of tommorow's VMAJ. As this time, the event is in the form of an aid, which is going to support victims in the Great East Japan Earthquake. (From yukari, TH55 and KANA)
Bill:
The meaning of 'aid' is of couse important. We really appreciate the opportunity of taking part in this activity. I think that It is really cool for MTV to take the lead in this aspect. The successive aids are quite important. People unite and donate for the victims is also important. We really want to be one part of them and support them, so it's our honor to perform in VMAJ tomorrow.

Part 3

In the previous interview, we had talked about your favourite movies and the background of your music, there were lots of fans echoed about it, and I personally also would like to know, that have you ever been saved by music?
When you are depressed, you feel like you are saved by one song, something like this.
All the band members:
Absolutely and all the time.
Tom:
I think we are saved by composing. Otherwise, Bill has nowhere to go.
All: Laugh.

Bill: Music saves people anytime in no matter what kind of situation or emotion, as many staff and Tom are always writing the best song at that time.

When you write songs, do you have "bringing the hope to everybody" in mind?
Bill:
Firstly, I always think about everyone's idea and write them down. I like to tour best, because I can share my emotion and feeling with others. Then I can also know how they react (to me). I received letters from fans written "your songs save me". We don't know what's going on, but we are very happy about it. So, music can really helps people. When fans told us that our songs can help them, we are so proud of ourselves.

Gustav and Georg, have you ever been saved by music?
Georg:
For us, especially for Gustav and me, we always think that we don't have other things to do, except music. If I was not in the rehearsal room, I should have been idling in the streets all day along.
Tom: Doing some stupid things.
Gustav: Working in post office.
Tom & Bill: Laugh.
Georg: It may be because we got in touch with music when we were teenagers. That was very important. (Georg often made collusion.)

Part 4

Fan's question: Would you mind telling us your secret of skin care? (From DESI)
All:
Laugh.
Tom: Isn't it the opposite? (Laugh) (Do the girls) really want to know about our skin?
Georg: Mine is... (Touching his face and hair)
Bill: Proactiv? (Looking at Georg)
Tom: Your hair is nice. (Everyone is looking at Georg.)

(Maybe Georg really has the best skin and the most beautiful, and longest hair)
Bill: I do not do any skincare.
Tom: I use the soap provided by hotel all the time.
Bill: To me, it's the sun. I think that bathing in the sunshine a little bit is good to skin. At least, it works on me. People always say that sunburn makes you look older, but I don't really care.
Bill: Even if something is wrong in the skin, sunburn can hide it. (Laugh)

Part 5

Tom, some fans want to ask why you wear a beard. (From bk89. At that moment, Bill is not wearing a beard, so I just ask Tom.)
Tom:
I have no idea. Maybe it's because it looks good, so I start to wear.
Bill: It's much easier, isn't it? Comparing to shaving the beard everyday...
Tom: If I shave my beard everyday, my skin will be rough like Bill's.

Bill: The good thing is that the freckles can be hidden.
Georg: It took half a year to grow the beard like this long. (Laugh)

(Gustav is touching his own face, but nobody notices that. Or does eveyone try to ignore his action? Laugh)

We notice that Bill developed his muscles. Did you do any training?
Bill:
As Tom goes to gym for training, we go to gym together sometimes.

Do you guys have twitter account? (From Jasminev)
Tom:
We have an official one, but we don't have private twitter account.

JEDWARD TALK ABOUT BILL & TOM - FOCUS ONLINE INTERVIEW ! ♥

FOCUS Online: Do you know Tokio Hotel?
John: (sings "Running through the monsoon")
Edward: They are twins, we are twins. Many of our fans are Tokio Hotel fans. Now that we are here in Germany, I would really like to meet them.
John: We have bought their records. They have really good songs. I love "Automatic".
Both: (they sing "Automatic" and know the entire text)
Edward: I remember their performance at the MTV European Music Awards, and as the rain fell down on them. That was really great. And Bill has great hair!
John: The twins from Tokio Hotel appear to be very different compared to us: one twin has styled his hair wildly upward, the other one has dreads. One twin sings, the other one plays the guitar. We, on the other hand, are really twins.

DAN AND DEAN CATEN [DSQUARED2] TALK ABOUT BILL ! ♥

Last year, Bill Kaulitz from Tokio Hotel was on your show. Good idea?
Caten Twins:
Our topic was the Rocky Horror Picture Show. He's a modern Frankenstein, which just fit in well with the whole theme of our show.

Can Bill Kaulitz be considered a style icon for adults too?
Caten Twins:
We like his courage to dress and style the way he does. He's a kind of Boy Gaga.

MUZ TV - ONLINE CONFERENCE ! ♥

1. Bill, can you grow your hair long again?
Bill:
Why not? I don't really plan my hairstyle, so that might happen.

2. What is the maximum sum you've spent for charity?
Bill:
I hate it when people talk about how much money they've spend just for getting some nice press. All four of us definitely spend a lot of money on charity but we would never talk about any amount!

3. So, you've sung Monsun o koete in Japanese, what about Russian?
Bill:
Gustav knows a couple of Russian words and phrases, may be we let him perform a Russian Monsoon version?

4. Can you imagine HOW MUCH you are loved and awaited in Russia in general?
Bill:
Yes we can, within the last couple of month we received thousands of emails, comments and letters by our Russian fans, that was pretty impressive. Thanks for that!!! We cant wait to come over…

5. Georg, do you know that many fans call you Rapunzel?
Georg:
Haha, no that's the first time I heard of this.
Tom: But I love... - I think we all love it!!! What a perfect description!

6. Have you seen all the actions that were arranged by Russian fans to get your concert in Russia?
Tom:
We saw all comments, emails and letters and that's why we are back. It was really touching us and we can feel the endless support!

7. Gustav, do you remember anything from your Russian language lessons at school?
Gustav:
Sure! I still know some phrases. Our trip to Moscow is a great opportunity to refresh some of it!

8. Tom, do you know that fur cap with ear flaps (or ushanka cap) is a national Russian piece of clothes?
Tom:
I didn't know that, but I'll wear mine now more often now. I love them!

9. Do you like your passport photos?
Georg:
German passport photos have to stick to certain regulations such as no smiling and a certain positioning of your head. They always look awful.
Tom: No, mine looks great!
Gustav: Yeah, mine too!
Bill: Yes, mine as well… maybe it's just you Georch!

10. Many people say that Russian girls are the most beautiful, what's your opinion?
Tom:
Let me put it like this, I can't wait to spend another night in Russia!

11. Tom, is it you who post in blog on tokiohotel.com?
Tom:
Sure, check it out if you have a minute.

12. When was the last time you had sex?
Tom:
Would be easier figure out the last time when I didn't had sex Augen zwinkern

13. Do your former classmates try to contact with you somehow?
Georg:
Some of our former classmates are still our best friends, so yes.

14. You've shooted a couple of commercials with Alice Cooper, what impression did he make?
Bill:
Working with Cooper was really fun, we had a great time and he is a nice guy!

15. You travel a lot and now you've left your home country Germany and moved to USA. Do you often call your parents?
Tom:
Our family means the world to us, we are really close and speak every day.

16.1) According to pessimists everything goes in a circle in life. According to optimists everything goes by spiral, dreamers think all goes by a straight line. How is it in your life?
Tom: Unfortunately I must say that I'm more the pessimist in almost every situation. But Georch is the big dreamer in the band Augen zwinkern
3) If you were 4 simple guys and were huge fans of some artist, and you wanted to attract his/her attention, what would you do?
Tom:
Bill knows, as he was a huge fan as a child.
Bill: Right, I know how it is to wait in line for hours to get the best seats at a show and all that stuff, so I really appreciate all the fandom and know exactly how fans feel.
Tom: And Georg still knows how that feels. He's a huge fan of mine. He always trys to get my attention by running around naked whenever he can. And it works every once in a while Augen zwinkern

17. What thing would you make as the 8th world wonder? You travel a lot, may be you've seen something interesting that struck and inspired you?
Tom:
Hm, that's hard to tell. Recently we had the chance to see the Maya pyramids in mexico. That was really impressive! But the world as itself and life on earth is the biggest wonder to me!

18. Gustav, you make an impression of a highly professional and strongest musician in the band, a heir of Lars Ulrich. Besides you legs in your shorts excite many girls' hearts! How do you see the musical development of the band? What perspectives you have?
Gustav:
Not only the lovely Russian girls might get exited, I also wear the shorts especially for Georg Augen zwinkern When it comes to our future plans, we don't really stick to a certain strategy, it's all about the momentum and the inspiration.

19. What is David Bowie for you, Bill?
Bill:
As a child I watched Bowies Movie "Labyrith" a trillion times. That's where I first noticed him and his work. He's an Icon!

20. Bill, you're one of the brightest frontmen and artists on today's stage. Tell me, when are you going to stop being shy and finally try to conquer the whole world?
Bill:
With Tokio Hotel we are already travelling around the world. Where ever our fans ask us to play a show we try to go at least once. But we still can't get enough. A huge world tour is our next goal!

21. Many artists like Dero from Oomph! use internet blogs to keep in touch with their fans, reveal their ideas and thoughts there, life and philosophical views, share their opinions about religion and world and other important things. Tom, how do all the things that are published in your blog reflect your inner world?
Tom:
I use my blog to share cool stuff and my personal opinion on more serious topics such as animal welfare. In general the blog is a fun thing for me. I share stuff that interests me and things I found on the internet that I just like.

22. 1) Bill, you say you want to control everything. And what if someone controls you?
Bill:
I don't want to control people I want to be in charge of my own music, videos, and artworks. Already as a child I hated authorities and they hated me.
2) Are there any clothes that when you see them you'll never put them on and you'll say it's too much for you?
Bill:
There is a lot. But, for example: short pants and real fur.
Tom: More the second one. You live just once and I want to try everything I can. Faults always happen... not often to me, but they happen Augen zwinkern

23. Humanoid City Tour became a great step in your professional and musical growth. What is it for you – this album and tour? Has Russia any opportunity to see Humanoid City Tour live?
Tom:
We are really happy to have the chance to perform at least a few songs for our Russian fans now. And we are going to include Russia in any future touring, we always had a great time here!

24. Bill, during signing sessions you just sign something and say few words to your fans. But sometimes you raise your eyes and look at them. What do you see in their eyes at those moments I wonder? I remember, you said you all like eyes. Georg, there are rumors you have relations?
Bill:
We love signing sessions. It's a great way to get in touch with your fans and understand their thoughts and feelings. I have the chance to see their real emotions and that's what is really important to me! In that moments all the negative things are blown away and I can feel their love!
Georg: Fortunately that's not a legend, I have a girlfriend

SCANS - INROCK MAGAZINE - VOL.#329 - WITH TRANSLATION ! ♥

imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com

Scans: Unknown

"We are inspired by things like movies, our surroundings, everyday life or just waking up each morning."

Tokio Hotel show their concern for Japan. Representing the band are the brothers, Bill & Tom Kaulitz who kindly agreed to give a telephone interview from Los Angeles at short notice.

Q: How have you guys been?
Bill:
We've been writing songs in the studio, launching new projects, stuff like that.

Q: Are you writing new songs for the next album?
Tom:
It may or may not be for the next album, we're just writing songs at this stage. We still don't have a defined plan for releasing the new album and we don't know when we will release it. We're just being creative, writing music.

Q: What kind of songs are you writing? Are you singing it in English? Or are they being written in German?
Bill:
Right now, the songs are more or less written in English. I don't really know why myself. Just that it comes naturally to me. Besides, we're living in LA now so somehow things tend to get done in English. However we're not sure how we are eventually going to compile the album because we definitely will do songs in German. Since nothing has been decided and we're still at the experimental stage, we're just trying out different things while we put a demo of the songs together.

Q: Does your recording company and management not pressure you to complete the album by a certain date, or are they fairly relaxed about it?
Tom:
(laughs) They are not relaxed about it. But we're just staying cool and calm.
Bill: Yup, technically we don't have a deadline. I mean, for me, deadlines are like nightmares. In the creative line, you're trying very hard to produce good work but having to deal with a deadline just messes things up and make its even more complicated. What's more important is the freedom to enjoy doing what you love to do. Even if it seems like making an album is about completing the songs and making detailed preparations, its actually something which need sot come from inside of us. That is why right now we want to take it easy so that we can enjoy new challenges*.

*probably referring to the challenge of creating a new album

Q: So, what kind of challenges are you taking on, what sound are you trying to create?
Tom:
That's a surprise we're keeping for the release of the next album. In the first place, we are creating something different everyday. We listen to various kinds of music, and are inspired by different things so it really depends on the mood at each point in time. We're doing this everyday and everyday is a new day.
Bill: That's right. That's why we don't have a definitive sound for the next album.

Q: What kind of music inspires you?
Tom:
Its not just music actually. For now I really like the older works by Anthony Hamilton.
Bill: We are also inspired by movies and what's happening around us. Everyday life in a place like LA is very refreshing and therefore inspiring. Just being able to wake up each morning is also an inspiration. But I would say movies play a bigger part. We really like movies. We do go to the theatres or we watch one from our 1000+ dvd collection in our home theater.

Q: Any good films so far?
Bill:
The Town was good. I also think The Fighter was really good.

Q: About your life in LA, do you think you are somewhat able to live a more normal life? After all you're kind of "unknown" compared to Germany.
Bill:
Well, the both of us came to LA because we wanted some privacy in our lives. Up to this point we've not been able to enjoy much privacy, and it's a bit difficult to achieve that in Europe due to certain circumstances. Therefore, we were looking for a place where we can be free to be creative and at the same time enjoy some privacy. Up till now, we've been on tour and haven't had the time for any kind of life outside of Tokio Hotel. In that sense, LA is quite suitable because things are quite different. The *paparazzi don't know where we live so we've been able to enjoy some privacy and take things a bit easier.
Tom: It doesn't mean that we get to play and party every day. Most of the time, we're cooped up in the studio.
Bill: Yes, **we do need to be cautious at all times.

*Japanese word is unclear, so I'm guessing he's referring to paparazzi
**Bill is probably saying this to mean that if they were out and about and careless, their location would be found out. It took me a while to understand

Q: So is there some kind of everyday routine in your life?
Bill:
We're really bad when it comes to routines. That's why we do different things everyday. Other than checking our emails, we're currently busy with several of this year's projects. Its still in the planning phase and we havent got the details down yet. There are various things we'd like to do this year. The best part of our job is having the freedom to do what we want. We really hate routines because when we were young we had to go to school everyday like a routine, and we just hated it but we had no choice.

Q: Finally, do you have any words for the people in Japan?
Bill:
Of course. We've been checking the news everyday and staying up-to-date on the latest developments in Japan. I think it's not just us but the whole world knows what's going on and that has deeply moved everybody. I think everyone wants to help in one way or another. Especially in this day and age, I think it's important for the world to unite and help each other out. It's really wonderful to actually see the world giving a helping hand to Japan.
Tom: I was really shocked when I first heard about what happened in Japan. After all it is a country that is special to us. And we were so saddened by the news. So we've been looking out for information about whether the people are alright. On our official website we are selling a button set and the proceeds from the sales will be donated to Japan. I also think our fans would like to play a part in helping out.

Q: Is there a song you would like to dedicate to those who are still feeling down?
Bill:
Because everybody is different, it's quite hard to find one thing to say to everybody but if I were to choose from our songs, I would choose "By Your Side" and "Zoom Into Me". Both songs give the assurance that you're not alone and it's a message I would like to emphasize. After all, it makes you feel happy if you know that people around the world feel for you.

INTERVIEW - 'REINA'S BLICK' - NHK EDUCATIONAL TV - TOKYO, JAPAN - [14.12.10] ! ♥

TRANSLATION:

Voice-over: That is Reina's favourite band. The group consists of four young East Germans. It's called "Tokio Hotel". Identical twins Bill and Tom were born in the year of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Their dream was [to play] a concert in far away Tokyo. They already released their first CD when they were teenagers. After that they received countless awards in their home country and abroad. Beyond Germany's borders they also became more well-known worldwide.

*Reina speaking Japanese*

Voice-over: Tokio Hotel were the reason for Reina to also get into the show business. Finally the band's dream came true. Will the band also take Japan by storm?

Tokio Hotel *clinking glasses over meal*: To "Tokio Hotel" in a Tokyo hotel. *jokingly pretending to be drinking something posh* Hmmm.
Bill: Delicious.
Gustav and Tom: Splendid wine.

Voice-over: Here's somebody already waiting to meet them.

Reina: I'm standing in front of a hotel in Tokyo to meet "Tokio Hotel". So come along!

Voice-over: The eagerly awaited meeting with Tokio Hotel is happening.

Bill: Hi. Hello. Hi.
Reina: Hello. Hello.
Bill: Nice to meet you. Bill.
Reina: I know German. I know German.
Bill: Oh. Hi.
Tom: Tom.
Reina: Hello. Good morning.
Bill: Good morning.
Reina: Erm, I've lived in Vienna [Austria] for four years [until] three years ago.
Bill: Ah.
Reina: Exactly. That's why I know you and I was really a big fan of yours.
Tom: Very good. Thank you.
Bill: Oh, thank you very much.
Voice-over: Reina, it's okay to touch!
Reina: So, you're called "Tokio Hotel" and I've heard that you've always wanted to play in Tokyo.
Bill: Oh, it's quite unusual to be speaking German again.
Georg: Yes.
Bill: Erm, actually it was a bit like we set ourselves a goal with it as well. That's why we chose Tokyo as a city because we thought "Ok, that's really far enough. That's out of reach." Above all it also sounds good somehow. Like, the sound [of it] was also important to us.
Reina: And after all you're one of the most successful bands. Well, of the German bands from the past 20 years.
Bill: It was really a total fluke that it ended up being so successful. We've definitely got the advantage that we really are a band that formed totally naturally. Meaning, we really got to meet each other on our own and we're also just really good friends. I think that's just one of the things that one, erm... that definitely connects us to each other and it's also what makes it a bit special.

*"Durch den Monsun" live at Tokyo showcase*

Voice-over: Their average age is 22 years. Reina prepared something to get to know the young stars better.

Reina *presenting pink box*:
That's got, like, pieces of paper inside and there's a keyword written on each one.
Bill: Okay. *getting first piece of paper out of box, reading it out* "holiday"
Reina: What are you doing? What would you do if you had a week's holiday starting tomorrow?
Bill: I'd immediately book a plane ticket to the Maldives.
Tom: Yes. When we're on holiday then it's always about relaxing and [doing] nothing... not making any efforts so to speak. And that's why we were lying around the Maldives and actually didn't do anything, except maybe jet skiing every now and then.
Georg *picking next piece of paper*: The next one? "pet"
Reina: I've heard all of you have got pets.
Tokio Hotel: Yes.
Reina: Namely… dogs?
Bill: Dogs. And many at that. Tom and I have got four.
Reina: Four?!
Bill: Tom and I have got four dogs, yes. That was always such a coincidence. We basically wanted to save them from the animal shelter and wanted to somehow protect them a bit and actually find a new place for them.
*Georg laughing*
Bill: And the thing that's always happening is that you no longer give them away once they've been with you and so it's four [dogs] by now. However, I could also imagine [to have] more dogs.
Reina: I see.
*up next: "die Deutschen" – "the Germans"*
Bill: For example, Tom and I are always very punctual. I hate waiting and I'm very impatient. Well, like... I think, it's... That's also a little something that Germans are said to be. That they're always very, very punctual.
Reina: What's so good about German?
Bill: Of course it's our mother tongue. So one's got a special bond to it. Needless to say, right? And erm, that's why being able to speak German the way we are with you now naturally just makes us happy from time to time when we're so far away [from home]. That really is something special then.
Tom: Quite good, yes.
Voice-over: Super, Reina!

Voice-over: The band members attract a great deal of attention in the music industry and fashion world.

Reina: And today I've got […] for you.
Voice-over: Which one of Tokyo's trends does the popular model Reina recommend?
Bill: Are they real?
Reina: No, they're not real.
Bill: Ow, that's good!
Reina: They aren't real.
Georg: [That's] for the car, right? To, erm... [attach] to the mirror.
Reina *laughing*: No, that's not for the car.
Bill *snatching the black one out of Georg's grasp*: I want the black one!
Reina: [It's] not for cars. Erm, that's like… you put it here for example.
Voice-over: She's giving the band foxtail tags that are popular with high school girls.
*talking underneath voice-over*
(Bill: […] these things totally […] but that's not real?
Reina: The fur isn't real. Of course [not].
Bill: Oh, that's good.)
Tom *looking at foxtail*: But you're sure [it's not]?
Bill: And as an earring, Georg. *holding it up to Georg's ear*
*Georg teasing Gustav*
Gustav *telling him off*: Georch! Get away… get that away.
Bill: Many thanks.
Reina: You're very welcome.

Voice-over: In the end the band members revealed their motto in life.
*Bill writing*
Tom: Yes. Whoo.
Bill *holding up what he wrote down*: Is it readable?
Reina *reading it out*: "Live every second". Yes, [it's readable].

Tom: […] and often have to remind myself that I really… that one really has to do it because… Meaning, very often it's just a case of working so much that one, erm... yes, [that one] no longer thinks about enjoying and living every second.
Bill: So sometimes one has to remind oneself: "We're in Tokyo right now!", right?
Reina: Yes, exactly.
Bill *turning around, looking out of window*: One has to look outside the window from time to time and to then realise once again: "Wow!"

Voice-over: Today a dream came true in Tokyo. [It was] memorable from the first second on.

INROCK MAGAZINE - VOL.#328 - JAPAN ! ♥

What exactly was [your] impression of [your] first visit to Japan? Or did [you] discover anything new?
Bill: Well, [I] was really moved. It was really wonderful, the streets and also the people, just about everything was wonderful, even though [we] went home, [I'm] always talking about it. Because last time was December, only one month has passed, so to come back like this again, [I'm] really really happy. Because I thought, I want to go again, I want to go, I just can't wait, so [I'm] really happy.

But last time the schedule was packed, as far as I know, there was no free time!
Tom: This time it is even more packed (laughs).
Bill: That's right. Someday [I ] want to try to take a vacation here, to really explore the city, and to make an opportunity to enjoy [it]. But it's okay! The people here are really attractive...
Tom: Because [we're] happy to be able to work here.
Bill: There's nothing but great fans here, and because everyone is just really nice.

Finally [they] have come to Tokyo and because up until now [their] goals have been achieved, [they] need time to think about what to do next. [Translator's note: This is the part that's in larger, bold text near the bottom]
Japanese people are really hardworking, so you guys have that in common, right?
Bill: Yes, that's right, [we have] that in common!

Even though this time [you guys] have a really busy schedule, it's great how you follow without complaining!
Bill: That's right...
Tom: But complains behind the scenes (laughs)
Bill: Well, it's already been 6 years like this, because we have always been doing [this], [we have] become used to it. It is our desire to succeed like this and to spread our music to everyone.
Tom: This time, there are plans to appear on many TV programs, so [we] really look forward to it. [We] will appear [on TV] tomorrow!

Tomorrow, must get up early and watch!
Tom: Because it's really early in the morning, isnt it. If I remember correctly, because [we] must get up around 4AM, it's quite hard for us.
Bill: I get up at 3AM. Also have to have rehearsals, put on makeup, and appearance also has to be perfect. To begin with, also have to put in time to go to the place. [I'm] really happy to be able to perform, but [I'm] not good at morning shows. Because by nature, I'm the type that sleeps long hours. But, well, I will try my best.

So, between last time to now, what have [you guys] been doing?
Bill: Been going to the studio and writing new music [and such]. [We] have yet been able to discuss the rest, but going to the studio with other artists and making new music, or stuff like that. Also talked about [this] last time, but because we really want to concentrate on Japan this year, [we] have been preparing and stuff, as for the rest, there is a little free time, so for the next album, [we're] doing creative activities, preparing to make new things, and such. Because in the past 6 years, [we] have always been making albums and always touring, new inspiration is necessary.
Tom: Especially because [we] did many new things in our last album. We have completely done the European Tour we wanted to do...[Translator's note: Not 100% certain on this particular sentence...]
Bill: And finally [we] came to Japan, [we] have achieved our goals up to now. So for the band, it's necessary to look for new inspiration in [ourselves] and have time to think about what [we] want to do for the next album. Because life itself becomes a good inspiration, now [I ] feel that I spend every day carefully.

For your new project, somehow or another, [I ] understand that [you] can't talk about it specifically yet.
Bill: [You] understand? Really (laughs)?

Probably (laughs). This is completely different, but what do [you] hope for this project?
Bill: It's certainly completey different but because [I] have never sung outside of this band, [I ] thought of trying it. Because for me, this is has become my first experience. Because the band is in the middle of searching for new inspiration, [I] think it might be good to also try experimenting with something new. I wanted to see what it's like to try and work together with completely different people who have completely different styles, to be inspired, and to work with other artists. I am looking forward to anything.

Is that for your new album or is it for "another" new album? [Translator's note: Not 100% positive about how accurate my translation for this question is, so please take with a grain of salt...]
Bill: That is...oops, can't talk [about it] yet (laughs).
(laughs) [For] use in movies and such...?
Bill: [We] haven't talked about it yet (laughs). Because other artists are also involved. Anyways, it won't be included in our next album.

Is that so? So going to the studios, are there any plans for the conceptual work?
Tom: Maybe. Today [we] have yet to say how every day is spent, [we] write songs, think about various [things] while wandering in the studio, and doing creative things. [We] do not necessarily have a clear concept for the direction of the next album going into the studio, just lounge in the studio and enjoy the music. [We] have yet to decide anything.

HIS - INTERVIEW - JAPAN - [10.02.11] ! ♥

imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com
February 10, 2011 is a memorable day for the fans of TOKIO HOTEL. Yes, the long-awaited TOKIO HOTEL finally come to Japan. Thus, HIS has a special interview with the four guys from TOKIO HOTEL who as the Goodwill Ambassador for the 150th anniversary of Germany. Here are the answers we got from them about visiting Germany.

HIS: Your four guys were born in Magdeburg, what do you think of there?
Georg: Of course, it's a great city!! (laugh)
--laugh together--
Bill: In fact, there is nothing to visit .
Gustav: Yeah, it's just a common village, nothing special.

HIS: Well, are there any places that you'd like to introduce?
Tom: Well...
Georg: There is a cathedral and some other historic churches, and we often went to the shopping mall.
Tom: And, yes, the Hundertwasser!
Together: Oh, yeah...the Hundertwasser!!!

HIS: What is that?
The agent: It's a building built by an Austrian architect, and this architect was a little bit like Gaudi. (A Spainish architect)
Gustav: Most of the buildings in Magdeburg have a colourful outside.
Bill: That's all the stuffs that deserve to see.
Georg: And you can finish your trip in 30 minutes.

HIS: It seems that's really a small city...(laugh). Then, what if a Japanese want to visit Germany, to the other cities like Munich or Berlin, Do you have anything to recommend?
Bill: Berlin and Hamburg are good choices if you want to visite Germany.
Gustav: Talking about Munich, there is a OctoberFest!
Tom: Yeah, the OctoberFest is awesome.
Georg: That's a grand festival and was very alive.

HIS: Oh, I really want to be there for once. By the way, I heared that Georg was born in Halle but not in Magdeburg, is that true?
Georg: Yes, I was born in Halle, but I only lived there for 2 or 3 years.
Bill: And Halle is also a very small city. (laugh)
Georg: Yeah, even when comparing with Magdeburg, it's nothing special to say. (laugh)
--laugh together--
HIS: Oh, I see. Then the next question, what's your favourite city in Germany?
Bill: It's definitely Hamburg. Why do I say that? It's because I have lived there for a period of time. and I miss there. Moreover, there are great natural sceneries near the countrysides. Although, sometimes the weather is not that pleasure and it rains and blows a lot,but it's still a very pretty city. In fact,it might also be the most beautiful city in Germany.

HIS: Then, as a tourist city, is Hamburg also worthy of a stroll?

Bill: Hum...yeah, I once lived there and I really like that place, but I was not going there for tourism. Whatever, I think that's a good place.

HIS: Thank you so much, then Tom, what do you think of there?
Tom: In fact,I prefer Cologne. You can see people there are jolly and lively. Though I never lived in Cologne, hum, I guess I'll live there some day. It's a good place with so many bright and open-minded people and I love there. But it's more of travelling than living. (laugh)

HIS: Oh, I see, thank you. Georg, how do you think?
Georg: I think Berlin is the best place for now. It's an attractive and exciting city where contains varied cultures from all over the world. What's more, there are many nightclubs. And you can devote youself into them for the whole night long.

HIS: Except the nightclubs, is there any other place to go?
Georg: Of course, indeed, there are so many sightseeings.
Bill: Yes, there are several tour routes in Berlin.
Georg: Both history and culture are the highlights and it's a perfect tourist city.

HIS: Awesome, no wonder Berlin is the capital! then, Gustav , have you got a favourite spot?

Gustav: Honestly, I like Magdeburg.
Together (laugh): Really?
Gustav: Yeah, everything you guys mentioned just now can be found in Magdeburg. And of course, including the Octoberfest, it's totally a city for travelling.
Bill: But if you go to there for sightseeing, it's terrible without a bicyle... (laugh)
--laugh together--

HIS: Are there any vehicles in Magdeburg!?

Tom: No, there aren't.
Gustav: Indeed, we have taxis and double-deck buses which is the same with London's. But we have only one is use for going sightseeing. After that you have to take a boat, which is along the Elbe River but it's absolutely comfortable and amazing!
Bill: Yeah, it's said that the most interesting place in Magdeburg are Georg's and Gustav's houses.
--laugh together--

HIS: Okay, let's put aside the idea of going whose home first , HIS is planing to make a tour route about TOKIO HOTEL.
Together: Really?
Tom: Is it a tour to Magdeburg?

HIS: It includes Magdeburg and other places you recommend or concern you, or some memorable places. And What other good places except Magdeburg are worth playing?
Everybody: It sounds good! Wow, marvelous! (Everyone looks excited)
Tom: And what about LA? (laugh)
Gustav: Hmmm…
Bill: Do not miss Gröninger Bad if you want to know the history of Tokio Hotel.

HIS: What's that?
Bill: It's the club we first met!

HIS: So the fans might visit there at least once!
Everybody: And something more, it must be fun to visit our old schools.

HIS: That's cool! And do not forget telling us the names of the schools.

Each of them says the names of the schools f
or the best tour route

HIS: Thank you. The next question. Bill and Tom are living in LA now. Have you got the plan about giving concerts in LA?

Bill: No. We are focusing on Japan now, so we are not going to promote in other countries, and our new album has just released. Now we are recording songs and looking for new inspiration. So…hmmm, I don't know when to give concerts. We all pool our ideas to compose new songs now.

HIS: So when will the next album be completed and released?
Tom: It's hard to say. Maybe half a year later, or maybe 5 years later. We can't decide the specific date and now we are looking for inspiration. We are exercising so to speak.

HIS: We are expecting the next concert and CD! At last, for improving Germany's tourism, can you say something to Japanese fans?
Bill: Sure. Hmm, Germany is a very good country, though the weather is not that good. Don't forget your umbrella!
Tom: And the bars! Night bars and German beer are the best!
Georg: And also the Autobahn! It will be very interesting.
Gustav: There seems to be speed limit when driving in Japan, but there's no limit in Germany so you can drive freely.
Bill: All we said are the most interesting things in Germany.

HIS: Thank you very much, Tokio Hotel!

Interview with Tokio Hotel.
I want to try something new except music with Tom.

This month, Adimission free (page 84-85) published the articles written by readers who were interviewed with Tokio Hotel, coz it's initial to look into from fans' view. Overwhelmed by Bill, among those German all the people were so high. Beyond that, Bill and Tom kept talking. It was very cheerful.

Everyone was looking forward to your arrival.
Tokio Hotel:
So were we.
Bill: The trip to Japan has been our dream for a long time. We are really grateful for coming to Japan finally and extremely excited. It was quite good to come here.

I guess you guys had the same answers when you were asked by South American reporters. (Laugh)
Bill:
Yeah! We have told people that some day we would go to Japan for many times. What is more, our band name is "Tokio Hotel", so we want to go to Japan as soon as possible.
Tom: But when the day came, it was beyond imagines, because Tokyo was certainly too far away.
Georg: When we gave a name to our band, we wanted to figure something spectacular out. It seems that it should be a place that we can not even see and reach in the dream. And finally we decided to name it "Tokio Hotel". But we finally got to Tokyo. (Laugh)

Well, all the fans want to know more about you guys in limited times. Firstly, Tom, you said making an album was a time-consuming job when you received our interviews last time. So the next album in 2011 must be not easy. Do you think the same way right now?
Tom:
Sure.

Why is it?
Tom:
Actually we should have made the new song in the recoding studio at this moment, but we decided to come to Japan, actually it is not in our plan. Next time we hope we can prepare well.

Seriously? We can believe you, can't we? (Laugh)
Tom:
Of course! But we have other plans in 2011 to look forward to. After all these, we can finally come back to the studio to continue writing songs. So we don't know when the next album will be released, either. It's not that we don't like traveling, but it seems that we don't have enough time to compose in 2011.
Bill: That's because we want to make some albums of high quality. We really want to show everyone the best part of what we create in daily time, so it is necessary to stay at the studio for a long time. As we compose, we have to discuss which way is better, which sound is better and so on.
Tom: Yeah, we have been on tours this year. Once we get back to the studio, we will think about what to do next, accumulating our thoughts and collecting all kinds of inspiration. All of these are very time-consuming.
Bill: So we are not sure when we can release the next album. May be next year or the year after next. But we will immediately inform you if there is any sign. (Laugh)

How long do you spend in making a new album usually?
Tom:
It all depends. It always depends on how many songs we record. It's not the problem we need to think about. Sometimes we thing it's okay after we record 18 songs, while we may not be satisfied and add something else even after we record 50 songs. Therefore it lies on our mood of that moment. If we gave you a deadline, it would be an assumption.

Oh, I see. I went to Germany and Paris the other day. I know how popular you are in Europe. You are definitely most popular.
Tokio Hotel:
Yeah, it is the same in Paris.

In the first time when we interviewed Bill and Tom by phone, both of them were very friendly and easy to talk. I was so shocked. So no matter how popular you are, you are still natural and low profile. Is it your principle?
Bill:
Yes, it's most important for us. We founded this band naturally and we are also good friends. We have been together for almost 10 years. During this period of time, we have performed in front of only 5 audiences. Initially we never thought about success when we sung in a small club. But now our dreams came true and I was so proud.
Tom: So we know the two sides of the business work, because we know not only the success but the feeling when we stood in front of 5 people as well. In that small club, no one listened to us, not mentioning an interview. We also know how hard to be the top one. And it is hard to perform facing 500,000 people under the Eiffel Tower, too. Because we have experienced success and failure, we are so grateful today. Maybe we are blessed.

Is it because you are Christian?
Bill:
It could be one reason.

We are going to change the topic. After you came here, what do you think of Tokyo? Is it the same as what you imagined or not?
Bill:
I can't imagine there are so many fans here waiting for us.
Tokio Hotel: Yeah, yeah!
Bill: I thought no one would be there and no one knew us. But after we got off the plane, many fans were waiting and sent us lots of presents. I was so happy. Everyone welcomed us friendly and zealously.

You have been used to this scene, right?
Tom:
Other countries are the same, but it was the first time in Japan. So I thought maybe no one knew us at all and we had to introduce ourselves as first. I was very glad to see so many fans in Japan.

Fan in Europe must be much more than Japanese fans, but everyone here is passionate to you guys. Oh, by the way, Bill and Tom, you said you are both perfectionist. Then you cause troubles to others sometime, right? (Laugh) when did you start to pursue for perfection?
Bill:
I guess it started long time ago.
Tom: Something in my body began to control me long time ago, I think.
Bill: I say to myself: "relax, relax the shoulders." But I can not. No matter what I do, I want it to be perfect. I want to make everything perfect. If there was something imperfect, it would hang around me. It's like a disease. I know sometime I cause some troubles to someone else, but I just think of it. I guess others can not be happy. (Laugh)

See? Gustav and Georg are sneering. (Laugh)
Bill:
Yes, Tom and I are exactly the same on this point. So when we are together, it's too troublesome for others. I don't even know when it began. Anyway I have been like this long before.

Do you inherit this from your parents?
Bill:
Maybe. We are close to our mother and never get any pressure from her. We have grown up freely since childhood. Mum relies on us very much. She does everything according to our likes and dislikes, so we talk closely and she has supported us all the time. Mum has never forced us to do anything including study. She trusts us and says to us: "you do things according to your own ideas. I believe you." Our relationship is very good, so it's hard to say if it is genetic.

I hear of that you don't hire any stylist because of perfectionism. Is that true?
Tom and Bill:
Yes.
Bill: I cannot believe him. The stylist may ask us to wear some clotheses we don't like. I always feel uneasy. I prefer to choose and buy clotheses by myself.
Tom: I don't believe others, either. I want to control everything including PV, CD, total effect, stages, shows and of course music. It can be regarded as freak. But about all of this, we have own thoughts and we believe that we can do much better that anyone else.
Tokio Hotel: (laugh)
Tom: I think we will cause troubles to others. In a word, we hope to handle this by ourselves. I want to be engaged in CD with the text of lyrics or the "Darkside of the Sun" Japanese edition.

And what do you do indeed? Do you guys go shopping?
Bill:
It's hard. Especially in Europe it's not okay. But there are several stores that we are familiar with. And in some particular time they are open for us specially. At that time, we can go there and take our time. Besides this, we always buy things online.
(Tom told us that Bill often went to a store called Melrose Avenue in LA.)

Shopping online? Did you buy all of these accessories you wear today online?
Bill:
Sure! There are some websites where you can buy such kind of things. Sometimes in certain countries we can go out for shopping with caps and sun glasses without worrying. And sometimes designers give me some clotheses.

It sounds good. In our previous interviews, you said your apartment was not like a retail shop but a clothing shop.
Georg:
They have more various clothes than stores. It's more like a warehouse.
Tom: I have lots of clothes, but Bill has more than mine. The amount of our clothes is big.
Bill: I'm used to put all my clothes away instead of throwing them. Talking about clothes, I am...
Georg: Sluttery.
Bill: Yes, I'm like this for clothes. I like every one very much, even though the old clothes are still one part of my history and they have different kinds of memories. This coat is about this and that jacket is about that, something like this.
Tom: The clothes we wore when we were in the first PV shooting are still in the cabinet.

Isn't good to donate them to charity organization?
Tom:
We have done this before. But just like what we said, every one has its meaning and memory. We don't want to give them up.

I heard of that you dragged 10 or 12 suitcases on tours. Is it true? (7 suitcases for Japan)
Bill:
Yeah, it seems like we carried more. (Laugh) Tours are so long time ago that I can not remember clearly.
Tom: The people who are responsible for carrying the luggage are very tired, I think. It's really good to let others help. (Laugh)
Bill: We took everything we need, because we went on a 3-month tour.

Your band was founded 10 years ago. It has been 10 years. Comparing to the very beginning, did you change your attitude to music?
Bill:
I think we grew up actually. All of us grew up and became adults gradually. Surely everyone changed. We got to adapt ourselves on long time tours, so as a musician we grew up as well, which has been natural. We don’t have any thought that we begin to do like this from now on! Just let it be.

How about the subject you composed? Do you change the subject as you grow up?
Bill:
The subjects are changed. I get inspiration from many materials such as fashion, people around, movies and so on. Especially my favorite movies, so the last album was inspired by a science fiction movie.

Specifically speaking, which movie is it?
Tom & Bill:
It's hard to say.
Tom: Because there are so many movies.
Bill: We like too many good movies.

Please pick some among these movies.
Bill:
For example, "2012" is good. And another one, what is the name? Sorry, I forget.
Tokio Hotel: "District 9".
Bill: Yeah, that one is very good. And the new one named "Tron:Legacy" is very commercial. I really want to watch. And there are some other movies that we just know the German name, but English name. I like "The Notebook" and "Labyrinth" acted by David Bowie. They are old movies, but I like them very much. "Inception" is really wonderful.

That one is hard to understand, right? By the way, the show held several weeks ago in South America was full of future sense, especially the clotheses. When you set the stage, was the idea based on your own thoughts?
Tom:
Yeah! For the 3-month tour in Europe, we prepared for half a year. All the members thought over together in the rehearsal room, like the stage, the clotheses and the whole stage. It took us lots of time and energy for the preparation. We preformed a part of the whole. After all it's impossible to finish all. On the European tour, we used 15 trucks to carry all the stuff, but only plane was available in South America. And the plane had its weight limit. So we couldn't take all the stuff. Although it couldn't be the exactly same, we tried our best.

I see. The last question is sort of a joke. Tom and Bill, do you sleep in one bed?
Tom:
Nope.

In the previous interview, you said you two did everything together and sometimes you sleep together.
Bill:
We were seeing a movie together, but tired at the same time, so...
Tom: It's true. We are together everyday, almost 365 days and 24 hours. We may separate from each other only when we sleep in own beds. (Laugh) Except sleep, we are together.

Oh, I know. (Laugh) well, what is your goal for 2011?
Bill:
Go back to our studio and create new songs.

Are you going back to Hamburg or LA?
Bill:
We should go back to both of them. Sometimes we want to stay in US, and sometimes we want to stay in Germany. There are many specific plans that are proceeding secretly. But we can not tell you. Tom and I also want to try something else but music. We have not decided, but we will tell you if we decide. The next year should be mainly based on composition.

Did Bill do something relating to fashion? I heard of that you voiced a character in a movie.
Bill:
Yeah, I voiced the character of Arthur on "Arthur et les Minimoys" German version.

How about others? What do you do except music?
Bill:
They don't have this talent. (Laugh)

Oh! Bill! Come on!
Gustav:
I might be the next Stallone in 10 years. And I might voice a character on "Arthur rimbaud 20". (Laugh)
Tom: Although I have never done this before, it's a hard job. (Laugh) Not easy, right?
Bill: It took a long time. That is the achievement I got after I had stayed in studio for several hours.
Tom: Bill is also painstaking as a singer. We are not good at voiceing and making music at the same time, because I think we are not suitable.

How about Georg?
Georg:
I haven't got any good proposal. I don't know what is it going to be?

OK! Thank you very much!
